Attorney Sheryl Dublin

Criminal Defense Attorney
Sheryl Dublin

OF COUNSEL

Sheryl Dublin brings a multifaceted perspective to criminal defense, having traversed both sides of the legal spectrum-first, in criminal defense and, then, in prosecution. After several years as a criminal defense attorney with Jezic & Moyse, in 2021 Sheryl began serving as a prosecutor in the Special Victims and Family Violence Unit at the State’s Attorney’s Office in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Barred in Maryland since 2018, Sheryl has since navigated over 4,000 criminal cases in District and Circuit Courts across 22 Maryland counties. Fluent in Spanish and having lived abroad in Argentina during undergraduate studies, Sheryl deeply values their ability to help people navigate the added layer of complexity that a language barrier can bring to a criminal case.

With a repertoire of cases spanning complex gang-related First Degree Murder to delicate domestic violence and sex abuse cases, Sheryl’s experience is as diverse as the charges they’ve tackled. DUIs, traffic offenses, protective order and peace order hearings, and Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) matters contribute significantly to Sheryl’s portfolio of experience representing Marylanders in legal needs. As a Spanish-speaking attorney, Sheryl is adept at navigating clients through complex situations, including those involving Spanish interpretation, translation, and immigration concerns. Hundreds of interviews conducted in Spanish, combined with proficiency in reading and writing in the language, underscore Sheryl’s commitment to advocacy for all.

While at the State’s Attorney’s Office in Prince George’s County, Sheryl tried nearly 100 cases before juries and judges. The focus extended from domestic violence charges to an array of other crimes, including theft, robbery, revenge porn, trespass, and misuse of telephone. On a routine basis, Sheryl ran the domestic violence docket in District Court, demonstrating leadership not only in the handling of their cases, but in the inner workings of the courtroom.

Before their prosecutorial role, Sheryl served as an Associate at the Law Offices of Jezic & Moyse from 2018 to 2021. There, they represented clients in over 1,500 cases. A trial-ready attorney, Sheryl tried over 70 cases in District Court, securing non-guilty verdicts for charges ranging from assault to DUI/DWI, felony theft, gun possession, traffic violations, and more. Sheryl’s leadership in complex cases became evident when they were assigned lead counsel on a First Degree Murder case early on in their second year as an Associate. Their adept negotiation led to the dismissal of the criminal case in favor of juvenile adjudication, significantly reducing the potential imprisonment period from life to just eight years.

Sheryl’s journey into law was fueled by a desire to advocate for those in need and a commitment to holding the criminal justice system accountable. Law school at the American University Washington College of Law provided a platform for exploring these principles, including impactful experiences such as contributing to the thought-provoking book Policing the Black Man: Arrest, Prosecution, and Imprisonment and interning in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia under President Obama appointee-U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips.

A proud graduate of the Washington College of Law in 2018, Sheryl holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Political Science with a Spanish minor from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, earned in 2014. Sheryl is a member of the Maryland State Bar and Maryland State Bar Association.
