A Baltimore Circuit Court jury has convicted a city man of stabbing to death his former girlfriend and another man.
The jury deliberated about two hours before finding Joseph Simms of the 1000 block of N. Stockton St. guilty late Monday of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of carrying a deadly weapon in the Dec. 13, 1995, slayings of Belinda Baynor, 38, and Peter Wendell Williams, 73, said Assistant State’s Attorney Ahmet Hisim.
Police charged that Simms, 44, went to Williams’ rowhouse in the 500 block of Presstman St. to confront Baynor. During closing arguments Monday, Hisim said Simms stabbed the two, then hid bloody clothing and the weapon. Sentencing is scheduled for May 21.
