Driving under the Influence of Alcohol: No conviction
Mr. Hoffmann represented a man charged with Driving Under the Influence after a severe highway accident. This was a challenging case. The client had a previous DUI conviction, he registered a .08 blood alcohol level in a roadside breath test, and the other driver was taken away in an ambulance.
On the day of the trial, the arresting officer and two witnesses were present to testify on behalf of the State.
Fortunately for his client, Mr. Hoffmann was thoroughly prepared. He knew the law, he was ready to try the case, and he negotiated aggressively. Mr. Hoffmann negotiated a plea agreement pursuant to which all charges were dropped except negligent driving. For that charge, the client received a one-day probation before judgment and fines and costs totaling $350. Under Maryland law, there was no conviction for any charges.
