In June 2015, criminal defense lawyer David Moyse convinced a Montgomery county jury to completely acquit his client of second-degree assault. The client had tried that case without an attorney in the lower court, thinking that he could win the case without any help. However, the judge convicted him and sentenced him to six months in jail.
In circuit court, the prosecutor intended to ask for 18 months in jail if the defendant were convicted. However, with help of an attorney, the Defendant was able to use legal arguments and a persuasive presentation to earn a complete acquittal from a jury.
